Networking saves lives!  We recommend you verify with rescues that they spay and neuter their cats and dogs, screen their adopters and provide immunizations and medical care for their cats and dogs prior to placement.  It is recommended that shelters screen the rescues they release pets to and seek assistance from responsible rescues when your shelter lacks the manpower to do so.

If you have an animal that you can no longer take care of, for financial or any other reason, please do not consider Animal Control as your only option. Please contact H.E.A.R.T.  or any local rescue group with as much information as you can about the pet and why you may no longer be able to keep it. We will do our best to help you find an opportunity to be able to keep your pet or get it adopted.

Only an animal that is a “Vicious Animal” or is fatally “sick, injured or otherwise suffering” should be voluntarily submitted to Eaton County Animal Control.
